Kicking off a new year, one of my resolutions is to meet more fun people, be more social — and get better at playing backgammon and Texas Hold ‘Em. So I’d like to start hosting Board Game Days and Board Game Nights.

New Helvetia Brewery is offering up their table space, so we’re going to partner up for Game Night Friday and you’re invited.

We have a couple of games at the brewery (and I’m bringing a backgammon board and a deck of cards!) but please bring your own that work for two players or more, from dominos to D&D and chess to Cards Against Humanity.

And if you've got board games you want to donate, or “store” at the taproom, so you can play at a later date, New Helvetia will also make them available for patrons to play anytime..

* If you’re free this Friday after work, please join us.
* If you’ve got a great strategy game (that takes under two hours) to play and you can teach others, that’s great! Please join us.
* If you’re coming solo, please join us — we’ll find you a game and partners to play it with.

Playing a game with friends and new acquaintances is the best way to unwind at the end of a long workweek — and everybody wins.

New Helvetia serves beer, cider and kombucha, and Chana’s food truck serves Mexican food and nonalcoholic beverages till 8 pm.
You’re also welcome to BYO food — there are a variety of restaurants on Broadway near New Helvetia (Chinese, Ethiopian, Indian, Japanese and Thai) that offer takeout.
