Downtown Sacramento definitely needs help. This is the capital of the fifth-largest economy in the world, but if state government employees are never coming back, the mindset has to shift about what this neighborhood should be, and who it’s for. So what should be done to bring more people to work, live and play in Downtown?
This is where YOU are going to be part of the conversation. We’re going to start off by asking you to write down what you think should be done to give Downtown Sacramento a boost. No suggestion is too dumb. Any idea will be considered. Have a regular Second Saturday block party? Do another Art Hotel 916 in the abandoned buildings? Convince Sac State to turn some office buildings into classrooms and dorms? Give our ENLIGHTENMENT Salon a permanent venue (ahem)? Tear it all down and start from scratch?
You’re also going to vote on what are the best ideas. Then we’ll run them by the experts we invited to sit on the sofa and talk about Downtown. They’ll talk about the good, the bad and the latest about downtown revitalization, then they’ll listen to our ideas and give feedback about what could work, and what’ll it take to make it happen. The goal: Figure out some ways, from small solutions to long-term bets, to bring Downtown Sacramento back to life.
